I was informed by my car dealership's Service Department that my car had a leaky water pump. They indicated that the water pump required replacement and the cost would be $584. I had just replaced my water pump in June 2014 while my vehicle was under warranty so I was surprised. My dash light was not lit up with the water faucet light and I had no water under my car when parked. Hmmm. Nevertheless, I scheduled an appointment with the Service Department for the replacement of the water pump but I kept having a 'nagging' feeling in the back of my mind that I should secure a second opinion. Since I live in Maple Valley and I had heard good things about Valley Automotive Electric, I called them on the phone to set up an appointment to have the pump inspected/checked out. I was able to secure an appointment for the following day.I received a phone call around noon the following day. They informed me that although the water pump had a couple of dry water stains on it, the pump was not leaking!! They did run fluid diagnostic tests and determined that my transmission and brake fluids needed to be flushed, but other than that, everything was okay. I authorized the flushing of those 2 lines (which the dealership Service Department said were okay) and they offered me a ride home. I did not need a ride home or a ride to Valley automotive Electric to pick up my Buick but I definitely appreciated that they offered this free service. If the water pump would have had to be replaced. Valley's quote was significantly less than the dealership's. I also appreciated their integrity in informing me my vehicle did not require a replacement of the water pump. If they had been less than honest, they could have taken me for a ride. I highly recommend Valley Automotive Electric. They also left my vehicle in pristine condition.
